Beacon at Dusk
Hillsboro Inlet, FL.
It was a warm, pleasant afternoon near the shores of Pompano Beach when I noticed a bright light far away on the other side of the beach. After checking Google Maps, I saw it was a lighthouse just a few miles away. I knew I had to capture this moment on film. As I watched the sunset, the sky began to darken, and the deep blue hues of twilight washed over the late afternoon. Then, the Lighthouse's light was turned on, casting a rotating beam out to sea. The scene was magical, and I knew I had to capture it.
I made my way to the Lighthouse, determined to find a way to take the perfect shot. But when I arrived, I discovered that the Lighthouse was on private property and could only be reached by boat.
Relentless, I returned the next day with a new plan in mind. After scouting the area, I found a small dock at a public park with a perfect view of the Lighthouse across the bay. As the sun set behind me, I set up my camera on a tripod and took a few test shots to get the lighting and framing just right. Then, as dusk settled in, the magic hour arrived; the subtle illumination from the setting sun mixed with the darkness of night, creating a beautiful contrast in the sky. And as the Lighthouse began to rotate, its bright light illuminated the water and sent out volumetric rays, warning nearby ships of their proximity to the shore.
I took several shots, searching for the perfect one that captured the golden beam on the water's surface against the dark blue sky. And when I found it, I knew I had captured this incredible moment – the delicate balance between day and night. It was a moment I will never forget.
In this story, my initial impulse was to capture the beauty of the Lighthouse at dusk. But when I encountered obstacles and setbacks, I had to adapt and forge a new plan. And in the end, my persistence and willingness to rethink my approach paid off.
According to my original plans, this place was unreachable for me; but my love for this Lighthouse gave me a second chance to capture it and preserve this memorable experience in this artwork.
This courtship reminded me of the power of second chances and the importance of taking a fresh look at things. Just like the Lighthouse's beam, which shines bright and guides ships to safety, our ability to see things in a new light can lead us to unexpected beauty and wonder. Sometimes, it takes a second try or a different perspective to appreciate the value and significance of something meaningful. And in the end, it is often worth the effort to take these second chances.
